Apologies for a long silence. On Dec. 2, we handed over a pile of cash (US $100 bills) and received the keys to our new home. Pictured is the most important room,
la terraza (translation: sunroof, on top of our squat two-story building). The furniture et al pictured belonged to the former owners. So far, we've managed to acquire (in order of importance): a lemon tree, an olive tree, a giant umbrella, a few chairs, a large ficus and a few other plants and odds and ends. On Thursday, our big brick parrilla is to be installed. Ian can't wait to perfect his meat grilling techniques... Downstairs from the terraza lurk a million tasks to do. Painting, cementing, stove hook-ups, electrical rewiring... I feel guilty sitting here typing. Relatives arrive in a matter of days and we have a half-painted apartment (high ceilings are lovely until you start spending all your time on a ladder) and no furniture. More updates soon...

congratts on the new place. Where have you guys moved. Still in zona Norte or have you "downgraded" to the more popular boroughs.
Feliz N
Cintra and Ian - Loved seeing your new digs and hearing about you from your parents, Cintra. They had a wonderful trip to see you....
All well here. Trent and Murray are coming east for Christmas, arriving tomorrow. We five will go on
Saturday to CT, where the little Vehslages (six in all) are in various stages of breathlessness vis a vis Santa. Remember when everyone used to come here?
Feliz Navidad and I hope we will see you in this hemisphere come spring. Love, Ann
Looking forward to new photos with YOUR furniture, trees, etc. Keep scrubbing and buying.
Exsqueeze me? You bought? Details please.
The terrace! My god, and fruit trees. Wonderful and love the colors and R very jealous of built-in grill (man-fantasy). It'll come together -better to live-in and sort out as yo ugo, save for bare necessities like the stove hook-up. Can't wait to see. Love and happy new years. CTP
