Yesterday's
New York Times provided Buenos Aires with a tag team of articles by the Frugal Traveller (my boy Matt Gross, travelling non-frugally for this piece) and by yours truly. While searching his way through those (Palermo) Hollywood Nights
Matt's piece checks in with some of the city's more
under trends, like the embrace of
cumbia in the club scene and writer
Washington Cucurto's
Eloísa Cartonera pubishing house--where the book covers are constructed from cardboard collected by the scores of
cartoneros who work the streets at night. For my part, I lay out
36 hours of fun, including a bit of live tango in the punk-rockish locale
12 de Octubre (above), which has not seen a spring cleaning in many years (and that's fine, thank you very much).

Washington Cucurto is a great writer!! i very much reccommend you to read him!! He talks about cumbia, and villas, with an acid sense of humour. I also reccommend a book called "Bolivia Construcciones". Enjoy!
