Today is May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, Día del Trabajador, That Holiday in May, etc. So it makes perfect sense that Argentina's main labor group, the CGT (Confederación General del Trabajo), held its big downtown event, which blocks all traffic through the center, the day before the holiday. Because you wouldn't want to waste the holiday, you know, celebrating the holiday at some obligatory union event. Better to save that day itself for fun, and mess up everyone else's commute the day before. (And, hey, who's against a four day weekend anyway?)

Hi Ian and Cintra,
I have been following your blog for some time now (mostly lurking, I'm ashamed to say). I have a blog called Seashells & Sunflowers about my expat experience in Necochea, Argentina. I already have a link to your blog in my sidebar. I was wondering if you'd be willing to check out my blog and link to me as well. Thanks!
